About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Adults Services team on a 3-month interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting adults with care and support needs, ensuring they are empowered to live safely, independently, and with dignity within their communities.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage a complex caseload, undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating services to meet individual needs. You will also provide professional leadership and guidance to colleagues, supporting reflective practice and contributing to the ongoing improvement of adult social care delivery.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments of adults under the Care Act 2014, ensuring person-centred, strengths-based, and outcome-focused approaches.
- Develop, implement, and review care and support plans that promote independence, wellbeing, and choice.
- Manage a complex caseload, including safeguarding enquiries, Mental Capacity Act assessments, and Deprivation of Liberty considerations.
- Work collaboratively with health professionals, voluntary organisations, and other partners to deliver integrated care and support.
- Provide mentoring, supervision, and professional guidance to less experienced social workers and practitioners.
- Ensure practice is compliant with legal, policy, and procedural frameworks, maintaining high professional standards.
- Prepare detailed, analytical reports for case reviews, safeguarding meetings, and court proceedings where necessary.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and empowerment in all aspects of adult social work practice.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualifying experience in adults social care, including assessment, safeguarding, and case management.
- Thorough understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and associated legislation and guidance.
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage complex cases and make informed decisions in partnership with service users and professionals.
- Commitment to person-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practice.
