Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner – Intervention & Planning
Brief Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner to join the Intervention & Planning Team at Barnet Council. This locum role sits within a long-term children’s social care service, focusing on Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and court proceedings. The successful candidate will have significant frontline experience, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of children and families under Child in Need, Child Protection, and court proceedings.
- Undertake thorough assessments, develop robust care plans, and implement evidence-based interventions to safeguard children and promote wellbeing.
- Prepare clear, analytical, and timely reports for conferences, reviews, and court hearings.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes and reduce risk.
- Provide professional advice and support to colleagues, acting as a mentor or practice lead where appropriate.
- Ensure high standards of case recording and compliance with statutory guidance, council policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and service development initiatives.
About You
You are an accomplished and confident practitioner with a strong understanding of complex casework, risk management, and family support. You bring compassion, resilience, and a solution-focused approach to your practice. As a Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner, you demonstrate leadership within your team and a commitment to delivering high-quality services that safeguard and empower children and families.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience working in Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and court work.
- Strong assessment, planning, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory responsibilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
