Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (Bradford Metropolitan District Council)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **Bradford Metropolitan District Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this senior role, you will manage complex cases, provide professional leadership to colleagues, and ensure children and families receive safe, effective, and timely support.
You will play a key part in safeguarding children, undertaking statutory work, and contributing to the development of best practice across the service.
Key Responsibilities
– Manage a caseload of complex child protection and safeguarding cases. – Provide professional supervision, mentoring, and reflective support to less experienced social workers. – Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop child-centred care and protection plans. – Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews. – Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings, ensuring coordinated and effective interventions. – Build positive relationships with children, families, and carers, ensuring their voices are central to decision-making. – Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, council policies, and professional standards. – Contribute to service audits, staff development, and continuous quality improvement.
About You
You are a resilient and motivated social worker with significant experience in children’s services. You are confident in handling complex safeguarding cases and can provide professional leadership to colleagues. Your ability to balance direct casework with mentoring responsibilities ensures high-quality, consistent outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**. – Significant post-qualification experience in statutory **Children’s Services**, including safeguarding and court work. – Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory guidance, and social care best practice. – Experience of mentoring, supervising, or supporting colleagues. – Excellent communication, advocacy, and report-writing skills. – Ability to manage demanding workloads while maintaining a child-focused approach.
