Senior Practitioner – Adults’ Services (Staffordshire Moorlands District Council)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Practitioner (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s Adults’ Services team**. This senior role combines complex case management with professional leadership responsibilities, ensuring adults receive safe, effective, and person-centred care.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will oversee safeguarding cases, carry out statutory assessments, and provide guidance and supervision to colleagues. You will also contribute to service development, quality assurance, and reflective practice across the Adults’ Services team.
Key Responsibilities
– Lead on complex adult social care cases, including safeguarding enquiries and Mental Capacity Act assessments. – Provide supervision, mentoring, and reflective support to social workers and support staff. – Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans that promote independence and wellbeing. – Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for panels, reviews, and court proceedings. – Collaborate with health services, housing, voluntary sector, and community organisations to deliver joined-up care. – Ensure compliance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and other statutory frameworks. – Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with professional standards. – Contribute to audits, quality assurance, and service improvement within Adults’ Services.
About You
You are a confident and resilient social worker with substantial post-qualification experience in adults’ services. You thrive in managing complex cases, making sound decisions under pressure, and guiding colleagues through professional supervision. Your strong communication and analytical skills enable you to deliver high-quality, person-centred outcomes.
Requirements
– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**. – Significant post-qualification experience within **Adults’ Services**, including safeguarding and complex case management. – In-depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding procedures. – Demonstrable experience of supervising, mentoring, or supporting colleagues. – Excellent report writing, assessment, and communication skills. – Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a focus on best practice.
