Senior Occupational Therapist

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the London Borough of Islington within North London Social Services. This ongoing locum opportunity is based within the Integrated Health and Care Front Door Service, supporting a timely and coordinated response to residents’ care and support needs.

The service brings together Health and Care professionals to provide holistic, multidisciplinary interventions focused on early intervention, prevention, independence and wellbeing. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping pathways, identifying opportunities for early intervention and connecting residents with effective solutions that enable them to remain independent and thrive within their communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a specialist Occupational Therapy perspective within the Integrated Health and Care Front Door Service, promoting best practice and continuous professional development.
  • Champion strength-based, person-centred approaches that focus on residents’ abilities, outcomes and overall wellbeing.
  • Identify residents who may benefit from early intervention and prevention to reduce or delay the need for ongoing care and support.
  • Complete Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions in accordance with the Care Act 2014, applying a strengths-based and wellbeing-focused approach.
  • Apply service criteria appropriately and make informed decisions around case closure and transfer.
  • Act as a key point of contact when negotiating and coordinating complex cases.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary Health and Care teams to develop and deliver joined-up care and support.
  • Contribute to Occupational Therapy service development and support wider strategic planning and quality assurance activity.
  • Promote innovation and effective pathways across Health and Care to improve outcomes for residents.
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct, performance and ethics.

About You

We are looking for a confident and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist who is able to work effectively within a fast-paced, integrated Health and Social Care environment. You will have strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills, with the ability to identify appropriate early intervention and prevention opportunities.

You should be confident applying a strengths-based and person-centred approach, managing complex situations and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues. The ability to contribute to service development, pathway improvement and quality assurance will be important in this innovative Front Door role.

Requirements

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapist within a Health, Social Care or integrated care setting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of strengths-based, person-centred Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Experience completing Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions in line with the Care Act 2014.
  • Ability to assess complex situations and make appropriate case closure or transfer decisions.
  • Strong multidisciplinary and partnership-working skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and professional decision-making skills.
