Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Senior Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within South London NHS. Based with Croydon Healthcare Services, this role offers the opportunity to work within a busy acute therapy service, managing a complex caseload while providing leadership and support to junior colleagues.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with demonstrable acute hospital experience who is passionate about delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care. Alongside clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to service development, supervise junior staff and students, and support the ongoing delivery of high-quality therapy services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based and patient-centred Occupational Therapy principles.
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, competency assessment, and appraisal for junior Occupational Therapy staff.
• Supervise Occupational Therapy students during practice placements, supporting their professional development.
• Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of therapy services within the designated team.
• Lead or contribute to defined service improvement and quality projects.
• Support the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality Occupational Therapy services across the Trust.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
• Participate in rotational duties as required by the service.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and NHS standards.

About You

You will be an experienced HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in acute hospital services. You will be confident managing complex caseloads, supervising colleagues, and contributing to service improvement initiatives within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, leadership, communication, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Demonstrable acute NHS Occupational Therapy experience (excluding neurology).
• Experience managing complex inpatient caseloads.
• Experience supervising junior staff and Occupational Therapy students.
• Strong leadership, service development, and quality improvement skills.
• Excellent assessment, rehabilitation, and clinical reasoning abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Available to start immediately.
