Tripod Partners are recruiting a Specialist Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist for a locum role within North London Social Services. This position sits within a Wheelchair Service, providing specialist clinical assessment and prescription of wheelchairs and associated equipment for individuals with a range of complex needs.
The successful candidate will manage a specialist caseload, delivering assessments in clinic, at home, or within community settings. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, including rehabilitation and specialist seating engineers, to ensure tailored and effective mobility solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out specialist clinical assessments for wheelchair provision.
- Manage a caseload of service users with medium, high, and highly complex needs.
- Prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment.
- Conduct assessments in clinics, patients’ homes, and community settings.
- Work collaboratively with rehabilitation engineers and specialist seating engineers.
- Act as a key point of contact for service users, responding to mobility-related concerns.
- Triage and resolve issues relating to wheelchair use in a proactive and solution-focused manner.
- Provide advice and support to service users and carers.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
About You
You will be a highly experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with
specialist knowledge in wheelchair services and complex seating. You will demonstrate
strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to assess and manage complex cases independently.
You will be confident working both autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams,
providing tailored mobility solutions to meet individual needs.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working within wheelchair services or complex seating.
- Ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
- Manual handling training completed.
- Full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel for community visits.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
