About the Role
Bracknell Forest Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join their multidisciplinary Children’s Specialist Support Social Work Team. This dynamic service supports children and families with a diverse range of needs, including disabled Children in Need, children with additional vulnerabilities, care packages and short breaks.
The team adopts a strong child-first and social model approach, emphasising collaboration, partnership working and making needs-led decisions to ensure the right support is in place for each child and their family.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out high-quality occupational therapy assessments, planning and interventions for children and families with varied and complex needs.
- Provide clinical leadership within the team, modelling best practice and supporting a strong child-centred approach.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, occupational therapists, managers and wider professionals to ensure coordinated support.
- Hold direct responsibility for the supervision and development of Occupational Therapists and OT students.
- Contribute to decision-making regarding care packages, support plans and statutory duties for disabled children.
- Build effective relationships with children, families, partner agencies and community organisations.
- Use strong analytical skills to ensure assessments and interventions are evidence-based, proportionate and needs-led.
- Help uphold a collaborative and positive team culture that values partnership working.
Requirements
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
- Significant post-qualifying experience within paediatrics or children’s social care.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and support other Occupational Therapists and students.
- Excellent analytical, assessment and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with managers and other professionals.
- Commitment to child-centred practice and the social model of disability.
- Face-to-face interview required as part of the recruitment process.
