We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist (Housing) to join Southwark Council’s Adult Social Care and Housing Services in South London.  
This locum role plays a key part in improving housing outcomes for residents with complex needs. You’ll assess people in their own homes, develop practical solutions that enable independence, and collaborate with key partners across Adult Social Care, Housing, Asset Management, and Resident Services to ensure properties meet accessibility and adaptation standards.
This is a flexible position offering a balance of community visits and home-based reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake occupational therapy housing assessments with residents in their own homes across Southwark.
 - Produce detailed follow-up reports and recommendations to support housing and adaptation solutions that promote independence and wellbeing.
 - Work collaboratively with Housing Solutions, Asset Management, and Resident Services to ensure suitable housing allocation for residents with complex or evolving needs.
 - Contribute to the management of adapted and void properties, ensuring adaptations are appropriate, maintained, and effectively utilised.
 - Deliver strengths-based assessments and interventions that maximise independence, recovery, and resilience within the community.
 - Work within the frameworks of the Care Act 2014 and Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 to ensure statutory compliance and best practice.
 - Collaborate with internal and external partners to support accessible housing design, adaptation planning, and sustainable living solutions.
 - Provide expert advice and guidance to social care and housing colleagues to facilitate timely and effective decision-making for residents with accessibility needs.
 - Maintain accurate and professional case documentation in line with Southwark Council and HCPC standards.
 - Contribute to service improvement and housing accessibility initiatives across Adult Social Care and Housing Services.

You are a proactive and solutions-focused Occupational Therapist with experience in housing and adaptations work. You bring strong assessment skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to influence multi-agency housing decisions that make a real difference to residents’ lives. You are passionate about promoting independence, accessibility, and wellbeing through practical and person-centred interventions.
Requirements
- Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
 - Significant post-qualified experience within housing, adaptations, or community-based occupational therapy.
 - Strong understanding of housing legislation, accessibility standards, and adaptations policy frameworks.
 - Experience working with adults with complex physical disabilities or long-term conditions.
