Job Title: CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner – Barking & Dagenham
Location: Barking & Dagenham CAMHS
Pay Rate: £30.00 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Contract Length: 3 months (with potential for extension)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner to manage a caseload of children and young people (CYP) within the Barking & Dagenham CAMHS team. This role involves providing evidence-based treatment in line with NICE Guidelines and maintaining thorough care plans and risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of CYP, conducting clinical reviews and harm assessments for cases with no contact for over six months.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date, co-produced SMART care plans and risk assessments.
- Conduct mental health assessments, risk assessments, and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
- Coordinate care proactively with CYP, carers, and external agencies involved in the child’s treatment.
- Attend professional meetings, including Child in Need (CIN) meetings and safeguarding reviews.
- Support the team by handling duty responsibilities, supervising trainees, and assisting with audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
- Offer support and guidance by deputising in the absence of senior staff or the line manager.
- Recognise and address safeguarding concerns, ensuring proper referral pathways are followed.
Requirements:
- NMC-registered Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or any other relevant Allied Health Professional (AHP) qualification.
- Previous experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
- Proven skills in caseload management, mental health assessments, and risk management.
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills with a team-focused approach.
- Ability to offer supervision, manage complaints, and respond effectively to safeguarding risks.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in mentorship and supporting trainees.
- Knowledge of service improvement practices, audits, and QI projects.
- Previous experience working with multi-agency partnerships.
