Major Ortho Scrub Nurse – Wimbledon, London

Location: Wimbledon, London
Contract: Ad-hoc shifts available periodically
Pay Rates:

  • Standard: £38.77 per hour
  • Saturday & Sunday: £41.22 per hour
  • Bank Holidays: £42.00 per hour

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Major Ortho Scrub Nurse to join a leading surgical team in Wimbledon, London. This is an excellent opportunity to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced theatre environment, assisting in a variety of orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacements and complex trauma surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist perioperative nursing care within an orthopaedic theatre setting.
  • Assist in major orthopaedic procedures, including hip and knee replacements, spinal surgery, and trauma cases.
  • Ensure sterile field preparation, adherence to infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre teams to ensure smooth surgical procedures.
  • Monitor and support patients pre- and post-operatively.
  • Maintain and check orthopaedic surgical instruments and theatre equipment.
  • Complete accurate theatre documentation and patient records.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff within the theatre team.

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration.
  • Extensive experience in orthopaedic scrub nursing, particularly in major joint replacements and trauma surgery.
  • Strong knowledge of theatre procedures, equipment, and surgical techniques in orthopaedics.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
