Children’s Social Worker – Assessment Team
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a busy Assessment Team on a locum contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker with experience in completing statutory assessments, safeguarding children, and working within child protection legislation. You will undertake timely assessments, manage risk, and work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake statutory assessments of children and families in line with relevant legislation and local procedures.
- Carry out child protection enquiries and safeguard children at risk of harm.
- Manage a caseload of assessment work, ensuring timely and high-quality interventions.
- Develop effective relationships with children and families to assess needs and plan appropriate support.
- Work closely with multi-agency partners including education, health, police, and other professionals.
- Prepare detailed assessments, reports, and court documentation where required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using Liquidlogic.
- Participate in duty work and respond to safeguarding concerns as part of the Assessment Team.
About You
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Experience working within a Children’s Assessment Team.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience completing statutory assessments and undertaking direct work with children and families.
- Confident using the Liquidlogic case management system.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Children’s Assessment Team experience.
- Experience applying child protection legislation in practice.
- Proficiency with Liquidlogic.
Contract & Salary
- Job Type: Locum
- Contract Length: 3 Months
- Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (09:00–17:00)
- Working Pattern: Hybrid working
- 5 days in the office during duty weeks.
- 2 days in the office during non-duty weeks.
- IT equipment will be provided and collected prior to the start of the assignment.
- Pay Rate: Competitive and negotiable.
