About the Role
Camden Council is seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our Adults Services team on a 3-month interim contract. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, person-centred social work practice in one of London’s most dynamic and forward-thinking local authorities.
As a Social Worker, you will support adults with a range of care and support needs, working to promote independence, wellbeing, and dignity. You will assess, plan, and coordinate care in partnership with individuals, carers, and professionals, ensuring that all interventions meet statutory requirements and reflect Camden’s values of inclusion, empowerment, and respect.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments under the Care Act 2014, identifying eligible needs and developing appropriate support plans.
- Promote independence by supporting people to access community resources and preventative services wherever possible.
- Work with adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs, or age-related conditions to develop personalised plans that meet their outcomes.
- Collaborate with health professionals, service providers, and voluntary organisations to deliver coordinated, holistic care.
- Safeguard adults at risk in line with Section 42 of the Care Act and local safeguarding procedures.
- Undertake mental capacity assessments and contribute to best interest decision-making where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports in line with local and national standards.
- Work flexibly and responsively to meet the needs of adults and carers in the local community.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Proven post-qualifying experience in adults’ social care, including assessment, care planning, and safeguarding.
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and related legislation.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency context and manage a varied caseload effectively.
- Commitment to promoting dignity, independence, and choice for service users.
