About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join a Local Authority Children’s Services team on a 3-month interim contract. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of children and families, working within a supportive and collaborative environment that values high-quality, child-centred social work practice.
As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for carrying out assessments, developing and implementing care plans, and ensuring that all interventions promote the safety, wellbeing, and stability of children and young people. You’ll work closely with families and partner agencies to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families in line with statutory requirements and best practice guidance.
- Develop, implement, and review Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Plans that reflect the voice and needs of the child.
- Manage a caseload of varying complexity, prioritising tasks effectively to meet statutory timescales.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency professionals to deliver timely and proportionate interventions.
- Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports for case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings as required.
- Ensure that all practice is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and focused on achieving the best outcomes for children.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with local authority policies and national standards.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Experience in children’s social care, including assessment, safeguarding, and care planning.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory frameworks, and local authority procedures.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-agency team.
- Commitment to child-centred, relationship-based, and restorative practice.
