About the Role

The London Borough of Bexley is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Children’s Services team on a 3-month interim contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a well-regarded local authority that places children, young people, and families at the heart of everything it does.

As a Social Worker, you will play a key role in assessing, planning, and implementing effective interventions to support children in need of protection, care, or additional support. You will work in partnership with families and multi-agency partners to ensure children are safeguarded, their voices are heard, and their outcomes are improved.

Main Responsibilities

 
• Undertake high-quality assessments of children and families in line with statutory requirements and local authority procedures.
   

• Develop and implement Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Plans that promote safety, stability, and wellbeing.
   

• Manage a varied caseload, prioritising work effectively to meet statutory timescales and service expectations.
   

• Build meaningful relationships with children, young people, and families to support change and positive outcomes.
   

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including education, health, and police, to deliver coordinated support.
   

• Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.
   

• Ensure that all work is compliant with statutory guidance, local procedures, and best practice standards.
   

• Contribute to reflective supervision and team learning to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

 
• Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
   

• Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
   

• Substantial post-qualifying experience within children’s social care, including safeguarding, assessment, and care planning.
   

• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice guidance.
   

• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills.
   

• Ability to work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
   

• Commitment to child-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practice.
