About the Role
Milton Keynes Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Children’s Services team on a 3-month interim basis. As a Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload, undertaking assessments and developing plans that safeguard children and support families to achieve positive and sustainable change. You’ll work collaboratively with children, parents, and partner agencies to ensure the best outcomes, keeping the child’s voice central to everything you do.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake high-quality, evidence-based assessments of children and families in line with statutory requirements.
- Develop and implement Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Plans that promote safety, stability, and wellbeing.
- Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive relationships and deliver effective interventions.
- Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring timely responses to identified needs and risks.
- Work closely with multi-agency partners to ensure coordinated support and consistent care planning.
- Prepare detailed, analytical reports and attend meetings, reviews, and court proceedings where required.
- Ensure that the child’s voice is central to all assessments and decision-making processes.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in accordance with local and national standards.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, including safeguarding, assessment, and case management.
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice in children’s social work.
- Excellent communication, analysis, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective multi-agency collaboration.
- Commitment to strengths-based, trauma-informed, and child-centred practice.
