Brief Job Overview
  
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Adults Social Worker to join Cheshire East Council on a 3-month locum contract. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of adults in the local community by providing high-quality, person-centred social work that promotes independence, wellbeing, and dignity.  
You will be part of a supportive Adult Social Care team, undertaking assessments, care planning, and safeguarding responsibilities in accordance with statutory requirements and local procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments to identify adults’ needs, risks, strengths, and desired outcomes.
 - Develop and implement person-centred care and support plans that promote independence, choice, and wellbeing.
 - Work collaboratively with adults, carers, and partner agencies to ensure that support is effective, proportionate, and sustainable.
 - Carry out Safeguarding Adults enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act, ensuring that adults at risk are protected and empowered.
 - Undertake reviews of care packages and services to ensure they remain appropriate and outcome-focused.
 - Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in all areas of practice, ensuring decisions are made in individuals’ best interests.
 - Work closely with colleagues across health, housing, and community teams to promote integrated care and support.
 - Maintain accurate, timely records and documentation in line with statutory and council standards.
 - Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development to ensure high standards of practice.
 
About You
  
You are an experienced and dedicated social worker with a passion for improving outcomes for adults. You bring strong assessment and communication skills, a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, and a commitment to delivering person-centred care. You are collaborative, organised, and confident in managing a varied caseload within statutory timescales.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
 - Post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care services.
 - Comprehensive understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Safeguarding Adults procedures.
 - Experience in assessments, reviews, and safeguarding enquiries.
 - Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
 - Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise effectively.
 - Commitment to strengths-based, person-centred practice.
 - Proficiency in using electronic case management systems.
