Brief Job Overview

 
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join the Adult Social Care Team at Cheshire East Council on a 3-month locum contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a forward-thinking authority, providing high-quality social work interventions that promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing for adults in the local community.  

You will assess needs, manage risk, and develop person-centred support plans while working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure individuals receive effective and timely care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the need for social work services, identifying risk and the need for protection in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.
• Determine appropriate interventions and advise on the use of relevant social care and community resources.
• Liaise and negotiate with professionals across health, housing, and voluntary sectors to coordinate high-quality support for service users.
• Manage and monitor a varied caseload within Council policies, priorities, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case records, ensuring all administrative and procedural tasks are completed in line with local authority standards.
• Participate in safeguarding adults work, identifying and managing risk while promoting safety and empowerment.
• Prepare for and actively participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and reflective practice sessions.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of adult social care services through feedback, evaluation, and sharing of best practice.
• Support the learning and development of others, including supervising students where appropriate.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Substantial post-qualified experience in Adult Social Care settings.
• In-depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Experience conducting assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating services for adults with varying levels of need.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding caseload effectively.
• Strong recording and report-writing abilities.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective supervision.
• Experience supervising students or supporting colleagues is desirable.
