Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services
Brief Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join Children’s Services at the London Borough of Redbridge. This is an excellent locum opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high-quality social work practice within a forward-thinking and supportive local authority.
You will manage a varied caseload, working with children in need, those at risk of harm, and those looked after by the local authority, ensuring every child receives the right support to thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out assessments, develop care plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions that safeguard and promote children’s wellbeing.
- Manage a caseload that may include Child Protection (CP), Child in Need (CIN), Looked After Children (LAC), and Court work.
- Undertake timely reviews, risk assessments, and care planning to ensure the needs of children and families are met effectively.
- Engage directly with children and families to build positive relationships and ensure their voices are heard in decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across health, education, and partner agencies to deliver integrated and effective services.
- Prepare clear, analytical reports for child protection conferences, LAC reviews, and court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and ensure all casework meets statutory and procedural requirements.
- Participate in supervision, reflective discussions, and professional development to enhance practice quality.

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum of three years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care.
- Experience working within Child Protection, Looked After Children, or Court teams.
- Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and related safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a multi-agency framework.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
