Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services
Brief Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join Children’s Services at the London Borough of Redbridge. This locum position offers the opportunity to work within a forward-thinking service committed to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families. You will be responsible for undertaking high-quality social work that safeguards children, promotes their welfare, and supports families through change.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of children and families, ensuring all statutory requirements are met within timescales.
- Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and deliver interventions that protect and promote children’s wellbeing.
- Undertake Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Looked After Children (LAC), and Court work as required.
- Engage with children and families through direct work that is relationship-based, strengths-focused, and outcome-driven.
- Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and other partner agencies to deliver integrated support.
- Prepare high-quality, analytical reports for child protection conferences, LAC reviews, and court proceedings.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of casework, following local authority procedures and national standards.
- Participate in supervision, reflective discussions, and team meetings to support continuous improvement and professional development.

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum of three years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care.
- Experience in Child Protection, Looked After Children, or Court work.
- Comprehensive understanding of Children Act 1989 and associated safeguarding legislation and guidance.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing demands effectively.
- Commitment to reflective practice, supervision, and continuous professional development.
