We are recruiting a dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join the Child Protection Assessment Team in North Somerset on a locum basis. In this role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding children, completing assessments, and ensuring that families receive the right support at the right time. Key Responsibilities

Undertake child protection investigations and assessments in line with statutory guidance

Manage a varied caseload and prepare detailed reports for court proceedings where required

Work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners to develop robust care plans

Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in accordance with local authority procedures

Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and reflective supervision

Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery within the Child Protection Assessment Team
About You

You are a qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England (SWE)

You have strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills

You’re confident in managing complex child protection cases and engaging with multi-disciplinary teams

You’re compassionate, organised, and committed to delivering child-centred practice
Requirements

Social Work degree (or equivalent qualification)

Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)

Previous statutory experience within a Child Protection, Assessment, or similar children’s social care team

Ability to work independently and meet key deadlines

Car driver with access to a vehicle is desirable for community visits
