Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (St Helens MBC)
Job Overview
We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **St Helens MBC Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high-quality social work practice that ensures safety, stability, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
As a Qualified Social Worker, you will hold a diverse caseload, undertake statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners to deliver effective, child-centred support.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify needs, risks, and strengths.
Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans that promote the wellbeing of children.
Manage safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory responsibilities.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive and supportive relationships.
Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver joined-up, multi-agency support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and St Helens MBC policies.
Engage in reflective supervision, team learning, and contribute to service development.
About You
You are a resilient and motivated social worker with post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in managing safeguarding practice, working with complex cases, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Experience working within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload effectively.
