Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Birmingham Children’s Trust)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **Birmingham Children’s Trust Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and ensuring children and young people achieve safe and positive outcomes.

You will manage a diverse caseload, undertake statutory assessments, and work in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to deliver effective, child-centred interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, needs, and strengths.

Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans.

Manage safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory guidance.

Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive, supportive relationships.

Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to provide joined-up support.

Ensure case records are accurate, timely, and compliant with legislation and Birmingham Children’s Trust policies.

Participate in reflective supervision, team learning, and contribute to service development.

About You

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, managing complex cases, and committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience working within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload effectively.
