Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (Camden Council)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker)** to join **Camden Council’s Children’s Services team**. This role combines complex case management with professional leadership, ensuring children and families receive the highest standard of safeguarding and support.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will handle high-risk cases, provide guidance and mentoring to colleagues, and contribute to service development and continuous improvement within Children’s Services.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory requirements.
Provide professional supervision, mentoring, and reflective support to social workers and support staff.
Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families to inform planning and decision-making.
Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.
Work directly with children, families, and carers to build positive, trusting relationships.
Chair and actively contribute to multi-agency meetings to ensure joined-up interventions.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policies.
Support service development through audits, quality assurance, and best practice initiatives.
About You
You are a confident and motivated social worker with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at managing complex safeguarding cases, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality support for children and families.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Proven experience of supervising, mentoring, or supporting colleagues in practice.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with complex casework.
