Qualified Social Worker – Adults’ Services (Southampton City Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Southampton City Council’s Adults’ Services team**. This role focuses on supporting adults with a variety of care and support needs, ensuring their safety, promoting independence, and enabling them to live fulfilling lives within their community.

You will manage complex caseloads, carry out statutory assessments, and work in partnership with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to deliver safe, person-centred outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks.

Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans.

Lead safeguarding enquiries and ensure robust risk management processes are in place.

Carry out Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best-interest decisions.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for panels, reviews, and court proceedings where required.

Work collaboratively with health professionals, housing services, voluntary organisations, and community partners to deliver integrated care.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and continuous service development.

About You

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with experience in adults’ services. You have strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Post-qualification experience in Adults’ Services, including safeguarding and complex case management.

Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding legislation.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a demanding caseload while maintaining a person-centred approach.
