Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Hull City Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Hull City Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will safeguard children, support families, and ensure statutory duties are delivered to the highest standards.

You will manage complex caseloads, undertake statutory assessments, and work in partnership with families and professionals to deliver effective, child-centred interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake child protection and safeguarding assessments in line with statutory frameworks.

Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and support plans.

Manage complex caseloads, ensuring effective risk management and timely interventions.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.

Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and voluntary agencies to deliver coordinated support.

Ensure that the child’s voice is central to all assessments, planning, and decision-making.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in accordance with legislation and council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer discussions, and service development.

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with strong safeguarding and assessment skills. You are confident in handling complex cases and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience within statutory Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.

Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children).

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a child-centred focus.
