Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Caerphilly County Borough Council)
Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will work with children, young people, and families to safeguard wellbeing, promote positive outcomes, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met. You will manage complex cases, carry out assessments, and collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver safe, effective, and child-centred social work practice.
Key Responsibilities
– Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying needs, risks, and protective factors. – Develop and implement child-centred care and support plans in line with statutory frameworks. – Carry out safeguarding work, including child protection enquiries and risk management. – Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for case reviews, court proceedings, and statutory meetings. – Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and voluntary sector partners to ensure joined-up care. – Build effective relationships with children and families, ensuring the child’s voice informs all decision-making. – Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with legislation and council policies. – Participate in reflective practice, team discussions, and service-improvement initiatives.

Requirements
– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Care Wales**. – Experience working in statutory **Children’s Services**, including safeguarding and child protection. – Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and relevant legislation (Children Act, Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014). – Excellent report writing, risk assessment, and communication skills. – Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
