The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking a skilled and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join its Children’s Social Care division within the Care Planning team. This role is central to safeguarding children and young people, developing and implementing care plans that support their safety, stability, and long-term outcomes. You’ll work within a diverse and vibrant community, supported by a forward-thinking service committed to high-quality, child-centred practice.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989, including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children assessments.
Develop and implement care plans that reflect the needs, wishes, and best interests of the child, ensuring these are regularly reviewed and updated.
Work collaboratively with families, schools, health services, and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes and permanency planning for children.
Prepare high-quality reports and court statements, and represent the local authority in care proceedings, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.
Monitor and review placements to ensure children and young people receive safe, appropriate, and effective care in line with their plans.
Maintain accurate, timely, and reflective case records in line with statutory requirements and Tower Hamlets’ practice standards.
