Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking for a committed and experienced Locum Qualified Social Worker to join their Looked After Children (LAC) team. The successful candidate will support children in care to ensure their safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing through effective planning and intervention.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after, providing statutory support and planning.
Undertake regular statutory visits and complete relevant assessments and care plans in accordance with legal and policy frameworks.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, carers, and professionals to promote placement stability and positive outcomes.
Prepare and attend reviews, permanency planning meetings, and contribute to court proceedings when required.
Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential staff, health, education, and other partner agencies.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate case recordings on the council’s case management system (Liquidlogic).
Requirements: SWE registration, right to work in the UK, and minimum 2 years’ statutory experience in children’s services, ideally within a LAC or long-term care team.
