Stoke-on-Trent City Council is looking for a committed and experienced Locum Qualified Social Worker to join their Looked After Children (LAC) team. The successful candidate will support children in care to ensure their safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing through effective planning and intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after, providing statutory support and planning.

  • Undertake regular statutory visits and complete relevant assessments and care plans in accordance with legal and policy frameworks.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, carers, and professionals to promote placement stability and positive outcomes.

  • Prepare and attend reviews, permanency planning meetings, and contribute to court proceedings when required.

  • Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential staff, health, education, and other partner agencies.

  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate case recordings on the council’s case management system (Liquidlogic).

Requirements: SWE registration, right to work in the UK, and minimum 2 years’ statutory experience in children’s services, ideally within a LAC or long-term care team.
