Surrey County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Safeguarding Social Worker to join our specialist Safeguarding Team. You will play a central role in protecting adults at risk by leading on Section 42 enquiries, ensuring proportionate interventions, and applying the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal. This is a dynamic role requiring strong analytical skills, sound legal knowledge, and a collaborative approach to multi-agency working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake and coordinate Section 42 enquiries under the Care Act 2014, ensuring timely risk assessment, protection planning, and resolution.

  • Engage with adults, carers, families, and partner agencies to ensure person-led safeguarding outcomes that respect autonomy and uphold human rights.

  • Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in practice, completing capacity assessments and Best Interests decisions, and making referrals for DoLS or Court of Protection where necessary.

  • Maintain clear, accurate case notes and safeguarding documentation, ensuring all actions are legally defensible and in line with Surrey’s Adult Safeguarding Procedures.
