Lewisham Council is seeking experienced and resilient EDT Social Workers to join our Emergency Duty Team, providing vital out-of-hours social work services for both children and adults. This fast-paced role requires excellent risk assessment skills, autonomous decision-making, and the ability to manage urgent safeguarding concerns outside of normal office hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to emergency safeguarding referrals involving children and vulnerable adults, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
Undertake Mental Health Act assessments, child protection visits, and urgent adult safeguarding enquiries in line with statutory responsibilities.
Work autonomously across a broad range of cases, exercising sound professional judgment in high-pressure situations.
Liaise with police, health professionals, housing, and other agencies to coordinate urgent care, protection, and crisis responses.
