Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist for a part-time locum opportunity with Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. Working within the South West London NHS, you will join a busy Outpatient Physiotherapy Service, providing specialist musculoskeletal rehabilitation for patients referred by Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O), Rheumatology, and Pain Consultants.

This role is particularly suited to a Physiotherapist with strong orthopaedic outpatient experience and confidence managing patients throughout both the acute and rehabilitation phases following trauma and orthopaedic surgery. You will work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients referred to the outpatient physiotherapy service from Trauma & Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, and Pain services.
• Manage a varied musculoskeletal caseload, with a strong focus on post-operative and post-fracture rehabilitation.
• Provide evidence-based rehabilitation following procedures including ACL reconstruction, joint arthroplasty, foot and ankle surgery, and upper limb surgery.
• Deliver physiotherapy interventions throughout both the acute recovery phase and longer-term rehabilitation.
• Develop personalised treatment programmes to restore function, mobility, strength, and independence.
• Monitor patient progress, review outcomes, and adapt treatment plans to achieve optimal recovery.
• Provide education and self-management advice to patients to support ongoing rehabilitation and injury prevention.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with HCPC standards and Trust policies.
• Work collaboratively with Orthopaedic Consultants, Rheumatology teams, Pain Specialists, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver coordinated patient care.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy services in a busy outpatient environment.

About You

You will be a HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with proven experience working within an NHS outpatient musculoskeletal setting. You will have excellent knowledge of orthopaedic rehabilitation and be confident managing patients following fractures and complex orthopaedic surgery.

You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, together with the ability to manage an independent caseload while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience working within NHS outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.
• Extensive experience treating post-fracture and post-operative orthopaedic patients.
• Experience managing rehabilitation following ACL reconstruction, joint arthroplasty, foot and ankle surgery, and upper limb surgery.
• Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal assessment, rehabilitation, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
• Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Ability to manage an autonomous outpatient caseload.
