Job Title: Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Band 6

 

Location: University Hospital of Bristol and Weston

Area: South West NHS

Salary: £negotiable

Job Type: Locum

Contract length: 6 weeks

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08.30 – 16.30

 

Job overview:

 

An experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist is required for a short-term
locum assignment within an acute hospital setting. The post holder will work as part of the
ward-based multidisciplinary team, supporting patient assessment, treatment and discharge
planning.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  •  
    • Provide high-quality occupational therapy or physiotherapy assessment and intervention to acute hospital inpatients
       

    • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient flow and timely discharge
       

    • Manage a ward-based caseload, prioritising clinical needs appropriately
       

    • Carry out functional assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to patient needs
       

    • Contribute to discharge planning, including recommendations for ongoing therapy, equipment or support
       

    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards

     

    Skills and experience required:

     

    •  
      • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
         

      • Current HCPC registration
         

      • Essential recent ward-based experience within an acute hospital setting
         

      • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
         

      • Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team
         

      • Excellent communication and organisational skills
