Hand Therapist – Band 6 (Locum)

 

Location: Croydon Healthcare Services – Community

Area: South London NHS

Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (initial 6 months)

 

About the Role

 

Croydon Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced Band 6 Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to join their community outpatient department. You will be part of a vibrant multidisciplinary team, working alongside Neurological Therapists and OTs, with regular opportunities to liaise with Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultants who run weekly clinics on site.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for a wide range of hand and wrist injuries and conditions.
  • Deliver high-quality rehabilitation for trauma and elective patients.
  • Manage conditions including RA/OA, CRPS and other complex upper-limb presentations.
  • Fabricate and adjust thermoplastic splints and demonstrate strong splinting skills.
  • Apply clinical knowledge in wound management to support safe recovery.
  • Work collaboratively within the hand therapy team and liaise with T&O Consultants.
  • Manage an extensive caseload efficiently, demonstrating excellent time-management skills.
  • Maintain clear and accurate clinical documentation in line with HCPC and service standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
  • Broad experience treating a variety of hand and wrist conditions.
  • Proficiency in splinting, including thermoplastic splint fabrication.
  • Experience working with trauma and elective surgery patients.
  • Knowledge of RA/OA, CRPS and wound management.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume and varied caseload independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

 

Working Hours

 

  • Full-time or part-time hours available.
