Physiotherapist – Band 6 (Locum)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Older Persons Assessment and Liaison Team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust – The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, within the South West NHS. This locum position involves providing high-quality physiotherapy support to older adults, focusing on assessment, mobility, functional ability, and safe discharge planning. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary service that aims to optimise patient outcomes and promote independence for older people at a key stage of their care journey.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out physiotherapy assessments for older adults presenting with a range of medical, functional, and mobility needs.
     

  • Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment plans that promote independence, safety, and functional recovery.
     

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support timely decision-making and coordinated care within the Older Persons Assessment and Liaison service.
     

  • Contribute to safe and effective discharge planning, liaising with community services and hospital teams as required.
     

  • Monitor progress, adapt treatment interventions in response to clinical presentation, and ensure timely documentation.
     

  • Support the hospital’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care for older adults.

 

About You

 

You are an experienced and compassionate Physiotherapist with confidence working in acute or older persons services. You’ll have strong assessment skills, a clear understanding of the needs of older adults, and the ability to manage a varied caseload within a fast-paced environment. Your collaborative approach and clinical reasoning will contribute positively to the wider multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
     

  • Experience working in acute hospital or older persons services.
     

  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation abilities.
     

  • Knowledge of rehabilitation principles and the needs of older adults.
     

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
     

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
