Job Title: Physiotherapist – Band 6 Location: County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust – Community Hospital Wards (Chester-Le-Street or Shotley Bridge) Area: North East NHS Salary: Negotiable Job Type: Locum Contract Length: Ongoing (initial 6 weeks, ASAP start)
Role Overview:
Band 6 Physiotherapist required to support community hospital wards, with a focus on rehabilitation and reablement. The postholder will deliver patient-centred physiotherapy, mobility assessments, and exercise programmes, as well as play a key role in discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of conditions including arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, MSK, COPD, orthopaedics, and falls.
Deliver mobility assessments, rehabilitation plans, and exercise programmes.
Lead on discharge planning and provision of equipment.
Apply manual handling expertise to ensure safe patient care.
Supervise junior staff and support service delivery.
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements:
HCPC registration (essential).
Proven hospital ward and rehabilitation experience.
Manual handling expertise.
Car driver (essential – transporting equipment as required).
Working Hours: 30–37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30.
