This post involves working within Acute Therapies The post develops skills in these specialities. The post holder is an autonomous practitioner working within the hospital with both in-patients on the wards and Outpatients in the Physiotherapy department.

• To undertake responsibility for the provision of appropriate physiotherapy within a given speciality of the

rotation in conjunction with more experienced staff.

• To assess patients, design and implement appropriate physiotherapy management programmes for

individual patients with the patients and/or carers.

• To communicate appropriate complex information effectively to patients and/or carers, from a multicultural,

ethnically diverse population where there may also be medical barriers to their understanding. (This may
require the use of interpreters and/or nonverbal communication aids.) To inform them of the benefits and risks
of suggested treatment options and to undertake this with groups or individuals.

• To keep accurate up to date records and reports of patients being treated in line with departmental

standards and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) guidelines and standards for record keeping
(2000) To support Junior staff to do the same.
 –       To use the trust computer system to enter patient data, access emails and use basic word processing skills
when appropriate.
