Role 2: Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Haematology, Oncology, Palliative Care & Technical Services

  • Type: Permanent
  • Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum

Overview:
You will be responsible for all aspects of the professional management of the technical services section of the pharmacy, including clinical input into prescribing and administration of chemotherapy. This role involves leading care delivery in oncology, haematology, and palliative care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Duties:

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients under the care of the Oncology Team, ensuring safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs.
  • Identify and prioritise clinical pharmacy services to the Oncology Team.
  • Reconcile national priorities with local/cancer network realities.
  • Establish processes for setting standards of care and manage changes to achieve these standards.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with the medicines use process relevant to Oncology.
  • Delegate authority appropriately to junior staff and evaluate their performance.
  • Ensure pharmacy staff working within oncology fulfil all clinical governance requirements.
  • Provide pharmaceutical and financial information for the oncology operational group.
  • Identify changes in prescribing practices within the Oncology services that may impact on the oncology directorate drugs budget and collaborate on appropriate management.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability to service users, stakeholders, and the profession.
  • Identify resources required to maintain and improve clinical pharmacy services to the Oncology department.
  • Contribute to the Directorate business planning process for advancements of clinical pharmacy services to the oncology team.
  • Support the pharmacy cancer services team in the provision of chemotherapy.
