Job Overview
Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Adults Safeguarding Social Worker for a locum position. This role focuses on protecting vulnerable adults, carrying out safeguarding enquiries, and ensuring that statutory duties are fulfilled in line with the Care Act 2014. You will work closely with individuals, families, and partner agencies to safeguard adults at risk, promote wellbeing, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
– Undertake safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act. – Assess risk and develop safeguarding plans to protect vulnerable adults. – Work collaboratively with health professionals, police, housing, and voluntary agencies to ensure effective safeguarding responses. – Manage a varied caseload, including complex safeguarding concerns. – Provide clear decision-making and professional reports for case conferences, meetings, and legal processes where required. – Promote service-user choice, independence, and empowerment while ensuring protection from harm.
About You
You will be a skilled and compassionate Social Worker with experience in adult safeguarding. You will be confident in risk assessment, decision-making, and partnership working, with a strong commitment to protecting vulnerable adults and upholding their rights.
Requirements
– Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England. – Previous experience in adults safeguarding or adult social care services. – In-depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding frameworks. – Ability to work effectively under pressure with complex cases. – Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
Contract & Salary
– Locum contract with Somerset Council. – Competitive hourly rates, dependent on experience. – Full-time, with flexible working considered.
