Brief Job Overview / Introduction to Role
We are recruiting a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7) to join NELFT in Redbridge. This ongoing locum role is within an Integrated Health team, focusing on community rehabilitation for patients with a new stroke diagnosis. The role involves delivering specialist assessments and therapy for clients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop and deliver highly specialist assessment and treatment programmes for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties. – Create appropriate resources to support therapeutic interventions. – Provide multidisciplinary support and collaborate with colleagues across health and social care services. – Offer feedback, advice, and training to family members, carers, and the multidisciplinary team on communication and swallowing strategies. – Apply specialist clinical skills, including interpretive assessment techniques such as video fluoroscopic or FEES examinations. – Contribute to the ongoing development of community rehabilitation services.
About You
– You are a highly skilled and autonomous speech and language therapist with experience in stroke rehabilitation. – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. – Strong organisational skills to manage caseloads and deliver high-quality care. – Committed to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
Requirements
– Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registration. – Experience working in community rehabilitation within the NHS. – Competence in providing specialist assessments and interventions for communication and swallowing difficulties. – Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. – Available to work shifts Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 17.00.
