Team Lead Occupational Therapist – Band 7
Job Overview
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist to join the therapy service at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. This is an ongoing locum opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with strong NHS experience, particularly within surgery and orthopaedics.
The successful Occupational Therapist will manage a complex caseload while providing clinical leadership and supporting the development of junior staff. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants, contributing to the delivery and ongoing development of high-quality therapy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using evidence-based and client-centred principles.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop, implement and evaluate appropriate Occupational Therapy interventions.
- Provide clinical leadership to a team of Occupational Therapists within a multidisciplinary therapy huddle involving OT’s, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants.
- Provide leadership and professional support to junior staff through supervision, competency assessments and appraisal.
- Support the planning, development and evaluation of therapy services within the designated area or team.
- Take responsibility for defined service development projects.
- Contribute to the maintenance and ongoing development of the Trust’s Therapy service.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist with proven NHS experience within surgery and orthopaedics. You will have strong clinical leadership skills and the ability to manage complex cases while supporting and developing junior members of the therapy team.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, clinical reasoning and organisational skills, together with a commitment to evidence-based practice and high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant professional registration.
- Previous Band 7 NHS Occupational Therapy experience.
- Essential experience within surgery and orthopaedics.
- Experience managing a caseload of clients with complex needs.
- Experience providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary therapy team.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, communication and report-writing skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based and person-centred practice.
