Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Complex Occupational Therapy Service at Hammersmith and Fulham Council. This locum opportunity is suited to a candidate with experience of major adaptations and an understanding of supporting residents with complex and multiple needs.

Working as part of the Complex Occupational Therapy Team, you will hold a clinical caseload involving residents with complex multiple pathologies and a range of psychological, neurological, emotional, behavioural, social and age-related conditions. You will support residents to overcome difficulties with daily living through appropriate techniques, equipment, adaptations, information and advice.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of working within the borough at least two days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the Complex Occupational Therapy Service, managing a clinical caseload of residents with complex multiple pathologies and a range of needs.
• Assess and advise residents on aspects of daily living, applying relevant legislation, policies and Occupational Therapy procedures.
• Identify practical ways of overcoming difficulties with daily living through appropriate techniques, equipment, adaptations, information and advice.
• Provide basic major adaptations and, where appropriate, support with more complex adaptations under the guidance of supervisors.
• Recommend and order appropriate, cost-effective equipment and adaptations to residents’ homes in accordance with relevant Occupational Therapy policies and procedures.
• Support the development of the Complex Occupational Therapy Team.
• Consider the needs of residents with psychological, neurological, emotional, behavioural, social and age-related conditions when making recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and other professionals to ensure appropriate support is provided to residents.

About You

We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant with relevant experience supporting residents with complex needs and a strong understanding of major adaptations. You will be confident contributing to assessments and recommendations relating to daily living, equipment and adaptations.

You will be able to work effectively as part of a complex Occupational Therapy service, communicate well with residents and colleagues, and apply a person-centred approach when identifying practical solutions to support independence and daily living.

Requirements

• Relevant experience working within an Occupational Therapy or social care environment.
• Experience of major adaptations is essential.
• Experience supporting people with complex needs and multiple pathologies.
• Understanding of equipment and adaptations used to support daily living.
• Ability to assess and advise on practical solutions to overcome difficulties with everyday activities.
• Ability to recommend and order appropriate and cost-effective equipment and adaptations in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and Occupational Therapy team.
• Ability to work under supervision when supporting more complex adaptations.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
