Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Enabling Independence Team at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. This locum opportunity offers the chance to provide person-centred Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions, supporting adults and children with disabilities to achieve positive outcomes, improve wellbeing and maximise independence.

The role involves working within a hybrid model, with three days office-based and two days working from home. A car driver is not essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake person-centred assessments in line with the Care Act 2014, using Occupational Therapy skills and professional knowledge to identify individual needs and desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement personalised support plans aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering meaningful outcomes for adults and children with disabilities.
  • Provide professional advice and recommendations regarding specialist equipment and home adaptations.
  • Assess and advise on housing needs and appropriate solutions to support independence and wellbeing.
  • Consider and recommend care technology and reablement approaches where appropriate.
  • Use Occupational Therapy expertise to promote independence and enable individuals to maximise their functional abilities.
  • Manage a caseload of approximately four cases per week, ensuring assessments and interventions are completed effectively and within required timescales.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals, families and relevant professionals to ensure a person-centred approach to assessment and support planning.

About You

We are looking for a confident and person-centred Occupational Therapist who can apply their professional knowledge to complex and varied needs. You will have a strong understanding of functional assessment and be able to make appropriate recommendations around equipment, adaptations, care technology, housing and reablement.

You will be committed to promoting independence, improving wellbeing and achieving positive outcomes for people with disabilities. Strong communication, assessment and professional decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Occupational Therapy Degree or Diploma.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience undertaking person-centred Occupational Therapy assessments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014.
  • Ability to assess and recommend specialist equipment and home adaptations.
  • Understanding of reablement, care technology and approaches that promote independence.
  • Car driver is not essential.
