Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for 2 experienced Occupational Therapists to join the London Borough of Islington within North London Social Services. This is an ongoing locum opportunity for Occupational Therapists who are passionate about promoting independence, wellbeing and early intervention through innovative, person-centred practice.
The successful Occupational Therapists will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating across Health and Care to connect residents with effective solutions and support them to remain as independent as possible. Your specialist Occupational Therapy knowledge will be central to delivering early intervention and prevention, with particular emphasis on equipment and adaptations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a specialist Occupational Therapy perspective, promoting best practice and continuous development across the service.
- Champion strength-based, person-centred approaches to assessment and care.
- Identify residents who are suitable for early intervention and prevention.
- Complete Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions in line with the Care Act 2014, applying a strengths-based and wellbeing-focused approach.
- Assess residents’ functional needs and provide appropriate advice regarding equipment and adaptations to promote independence and safety.
- Apply service criteria and make appropriate decisions regarding case closure and transfer.
- Act as a first point of contact when negotiating and supporting complex cases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver effective, joined-up care and support.
- Contribute to Occupational Therapy service development, strategic planning and quality assurance.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct, performance and ethics.
About You
We are looking for experienced Occupational Therapists who can work confidently within a fast-paced Health and Social Care environment. You will have strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills and be able to identify practical interventions that promote independence and prevent or reduce the need for longer-term support.
You should have experience of assessing for and recommending equipment and adaptations, alongside the ability to work using a strength-based and person-centred approach. Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills are essential, as you will collaborate across Health and Care to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
Requirements
- Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within Social Services, Health or an integrated Health and Care environment.
- Experience completing Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions in line with the Care Act 2014.
- Good knowledge and experience of equipment and adaptations.
- Understanding of strength-based, person-centred and preventative approaches to Occupational Therapy.
- Ability to manage complex cases and make appropriate professional decisions.
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
