Job Details
The London Borough of Sutton is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Occupational Therapy Hub on an ongoing locum basis.
This is a hybrid role, offering 2 days working remotely and 3 days office-based/undertaking visits across the borough.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of residents requiring support with moving and handling, equipment and adaptations. Previous experience within an adult social care setting is desirable, although candidates with relevant transferable skills and experience will also be considered.
You must be able to travel around the borough using your own car or public transport.
The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and be fully supported through team CPD activities.
Key Responsibilities

Enable residents to remain safe, maximise their independence and achieve their desired outcomes.

Undertake strengths-based, comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and make recommendations to prevent, reduce or delay the need for ongoing care.

Assess for and recommend major and minor adaptations, including prescribing appropriate assistive equipment.

Work closely with residents, formal carers and informal carers to assess moving and handling needs and implement safe, effective practices.

Work on the OT Duty Desk, processing enquiries, screening incoming referrals and proactively addressing immediate Occupational Therapy needs.

Provide advice, guidance and support to Enabling Independence Officers (OT Level 3 & 4 Trusted Assessors).

Complete housing reports and undertake property void visits.

Work collaboratively with other professionals and services to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
Essential Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.

Current HCPC registration.

Minimum 2 years’ Occupational Therapy experience.

Experience with major adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes.

Strong experience in complex moving and handling assessments.

Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice relating to social care.

Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with vulnerable adults and children.

Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and report-writing skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the borough by car or public transport.
