Job Details

The London Borough of Haringey is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join its Integrated Care – Short-Term Team on an ongoing locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Occupational Therapist with strong experience in complex care, assessment, risk management and multidisciplinary working. The successful candidate will provide specialist clinical expertise while supporting the leadership and development of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of service users with complex care and therapy needs across Adult Social Care.

  • Ensure services are consistent, effective and focused on achieving positive outcomes for individuals, carers and families.

  • Make robust, evidence-based decisions and undertake effective risk management for customers with complex care needs.

  • Identify and implement appropriate care pathways and interventions to meet individual needs.

  • Act as a recognised expert within the specialist field, providing advice and guidance to colleagues and partner professionals.

  • Contribute to the development of practice, procedures and policy within the specialist area.

  • Support the Team Manager in leading a multidisciplinary team comprising Occupational Therapists, Sensory Impairment Practitioners and Equipment Managers.

  • Deputise for the Team Manager when required, providing effective operational and professional leadership.

  • Promote a person-centred, strengths-based approach that supports independence and positive outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.

  • Significant post-registration Occupational Therapy experience, ideally within Adult Social Care or an integrated care environment.

  • Strong experience assessing and supporting individuals with complex care and therapy needs.

  • Excellent clinical reasoning, decision-making and risk-management skills.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Previous experience providing senior clinical guidance or professional leadership.

  • Ability to contribute to service development, practice improvement and policy.

  • Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to deputise for a Team Manager and provide effective leadership when required.
