Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Band 6

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist for a locum opportunity with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, based at Phorpres Close, Peterborough. Working within the Cambridgeshire NHS, you will join the Intermediate Care Team supporting Older People and Adult Community services.

The role will work across Pathway 1 (care at home) and Pathway 2 (care home beds), providing specialist assessment and rehabilitation for patients with complex and multiple pathologies. You will work autonomously as part of an integrated multi-professional team, helping patients achieve meaningful goals, maximise independence and receive the right level of rehabilitation and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across Pathway 1 care-at-home services and Pathway 2 care home beds within Intermediate Care.
  • Work autonomously as part of an integrated multi-professional team.
  • Take responsibility for patients on shared caseloads across community and/or care home settings.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients with complex and multiple pathologies using specialist clinical reasoning skills.
  • Identify individual patient needs and agree appropriate, person-centred rehabilitation goals.
  • Plan and deliver appropriate Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy interventions.
  • Assess for and provide appropriate equipment and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Take a holistic approach to therapeutic intervention, working across professional boundaries where appropriate.
  • Keep patients at the centre of care and ensure patients and carers are actively involved in decision making.
  • Prioritise patients according to clinical need and allocate or signpost tasks appropriately.
  • Provide support, supervision and education to peers, junior staff, non-registered staff and students.
  • Be accountable for delegated tasks and activities undertaken by Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Integrated Care Workers.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of patient care.
  • Provide resilience and cover to other locality teams where required in response to operational demands and system pressures.

About You

You will be an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who is confident working autonomously within community and intermediate care services. You will have strong clinical reasoning skills and be comfortable assessing and managing patients with complex and multiple pathologies.

You will be committed to holistic, patient-centred rehabilitation and confident working collaboratively across professional boundaries. You will also be able to support junior colleagues, students and non-registered staff while contributing effectively to a busy integrated team.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Relevant experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent.
  • Experience assessing and managing patients with complex and multiple pathologies.
  • Strong specialist assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Experience delivering rehabilitation programmes and appropriate therapy interventions.
  • Ability to assess for and provide appropriate equipment.
  • Ability to work autonomously within an integrated multi-professional team.
  • Strong understanding of patient-centred and goal-focused rehabilitation.
  • Ability to prioritise patients according to clinical need.
  • Experience supporting, supervising or educating junior staff, students or support workers.
  • Ability to work flexibly across community and care home environments.
