Occupational Therapist – 2 Roles

Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting 2x experienced Occupational Therapists for a locum opportunity with Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Working within West Midlands Social Services, you will play a key role in assessing 274 double-up care packages, helping to ensure that care arrangements are appropriate and support safe, person-centred outcomes.

This role requires practitioners who are comfortable with an on-site presence and able to undertake assessments around established care call schedules. The successful candidates will work collaboratively to review existing care arrangements and identify appropriate Occupational Therapy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess 274 existing double-up packages of care to determine appropriate care and support arrangements.
  • Undertake Occupational Therapy assessments to understand individuals’ functional needs and level of support required.
  • Review existing care arrangements and identify opportunities to promote independence where appropriate.
  • Consider practical Occupational Therapy solutions that may support safe and effective care delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, care providers, and relevant professionals.
  • Complete accurate and timely assessment records and recommendations.
  • Manage workload effectively to support the assessment of the allocated double-up care packages.
  • Work flexibly around care calls, including some early starts or late finishes where required.
  • Maintain a person-centred approach throughout the assessment and review process.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist who is confident undertaking assessments within an Adult Social Care environment. You will be comfortable working on site, managing a caseload of assessments, and adapting your working pattern around service users’ care calls.

You will have strong assessment and communication skills, together with a practical approach to identifying appropriate care and support solutions. Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively will be essential to the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • Current professional registration appropriate to Occupational Therapy practice.
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care or a community Occupational Therapy setting.
  • Strong functional assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Experience assessing complex care and support needs is desirable.
  • Ability to review care arrangements and identify appropriate support solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaborative working skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work on site.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional early starts and late finishes to accommodate care calls.
