Job Overview
Tripod Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the London Borough of Sutton in the South London Social Services area.
This is an excellent locum opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist with paediatric experience to undertake assessments and support children and young people to achieve greater independence, safety and participation in everyday activities.
The successful Occupational Therapist will be required to complete a minimum of 10 case closures per month, making this role well suited to an experienced practitioner who is confident managing assessments, making professional recommendations and progressing cases efficiently through to closure.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Occupational Therapy assessments for children and young people with a range of functional needs.
- Assess children’s abilities, needs, risks and barriers to participation and independence.
- Use clinical reasoning to develop appropriate, person-centred recommendations and interventions.
- Provide practical advice and recommendations to support children and young people within their home and wider environments.
- Work collaboratively with children, young people, parents, carers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- Manage a caseload effectively and progress assessments and recommendations towards timely case closure.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical and case records.
- Meet the minimum commitment of 10 completed case closures per month.
- Exercise professional judgement when assessing functional needs and determining appropriate outcomes.
- Work within relevant Occupational Therapy, children’s services and safeguarding frameworks.
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist who can demonstrate strong assessment skills and experience working with children and young people.
You will have excellent clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously while maintaining a child-centred and family-focused approach. You should be comfortable managing your own workload and delivering timely outcomes within an agreed case closure target.
Requirements
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant professional registration.
- Significant experience working as an Occupational Therapist with children and young people.
- Experience undertaking paediatric functional assessments.
- Strong understanding of child-centred Occupational Therapy practice.
- Ability to assess functional needs, risks and barriers to independence.
- Experience providing practical recommendations to support children and families.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and work towards agreed case closure targets.
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Ability to apply sound professional judgement and clinical reasoning.
- Commitment to delivering safe, effective and outcome-focused services.
