Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 6 (Part Time)
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a part-time locum opportunity with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Working within the South London NHS, you will join the Community Children’s Occupational Therapy Service, providing specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with a wide range of developmental, physical, and neurological needs.
This integrated role spans health, education, and social care settings, supporting children with complex functional difficulties to achieve their full potential. You will manage an autonomous community caseload, working across homes, schools, and other community environments while collaborating closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a community caseload of children and young people with a wide range of developmental, neurological, and physical disabilities.
- Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and develop evidence-based intervention plans tailored to individual needs.
- Complete Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) and contribute specialist Occupational Therapy reports.
- Assess and treat children with a range of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental conditions.
- Use evidence-based approaches including the CO-OP (Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance) approach and coaching techniques to promote functional outcomes.
- Provide Occupational Therapy interventions across homes, schools, clinics, and other community settings.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, and social care colleagues as part of an integrated Children’s Therapy Service.
- Provide specialist advice and clinical expertise to colleagues, education professionals, and partner agencies.
- Work autonomously as a lone practitioner while maintaining high standards of professional practice in accordance with HCPC and Royal College of Occupational Therapists guidance.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service development, audit, and continuous quality improvement.
About You
You will be a HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience working within paediatric community services. You will have a strong understanding of child development, neurodevelopmental conditions, and functional assessment, together with experience delivering evidence-based interventions that promote participation, independence, and quality of life.
You will be confident working independently across community settings while building strong partnerships with children, families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within community paediatric Occupational Therapy services.
- Experience completing Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
- Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental conditions.
- Knowledge and practical experience of the CO-OP approach and coaching-based interventions.
- Excellent assessment, report writing, communication, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to work independently across community settings, including schools and family homes.
- Full UK manual driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
